Harbinger launches new energy business, partners with Airstream to power off-grid camping
Harbinger isn't just building electric trucks — it's now selling its battery technology as a standalone product. Iconic travel trailer brand Airstream is the first customer of Harbinger Industria, the company's new energy business unit, integrating the Harbinger Power System for off-grid camping capability.
Airstream , the iconic travel trailer brand, is the first customer integrating battery technology from Harbinger Industria, the newly launched business unit of TechNexus portfolio company Harbinger , an EV company that's now selling its battery technology as standalone product for energy storage and auxiliary power. By utilizing the Harbinger Power System, Airstream will make it easier for customers to camp off-grid in remote areas. Harbinger’s durable and safe energy storage technology allows campers to run high power appliances like air conditioning in total silence. The collaboration manifested in Airstream’s new Trade Wind 27FB travel trailer, which features the largest battery capacity offered in the Airstream travel trailer lineup along with an integrated rooftop solar power system to store renewable energy. The off-grid system also automatically manages its own battery health to prevent depletion and extend service life. “By integrating Harbinger’s industry-leading battery technology in our travel trailers, our customers can stay off-grid longer with confidence,” Bob Wheeler, President and CEO of Airstream, said in a news release. This partnership marks a key milestone for the TechNexus Venture Collaborative ecosystem, which focuses on connecting agile startups with industry leaders to accelerate growth. Harbinger is a TechNexus portfolio company, and Airstream’s parent company, THOR Industries, is a long-time corporate partner of TechNexus. By aligning these two leaders, TechNexus helped facilitate a deal that gives Harbinger a legendary first customer and THOR access to world-class power technology. The latest milestone extends a fruitful partnership between Harbinger and THOR that saw the two collaborate to launch the world’s first hybrid Class A motorhome , which earned Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas award in 2025 and was among TIME’s best inventions of the year . Through the launch of Harbinger Industria and this flagship partnership with Airstream,
