Krisp takes its AI accent conversion to YouTube with new Chrome extension

Krisp's Accent Conversion tool modifies a person's accent without altering their voice characteristics, preserving the speaker’s natural voice and emotions.

You can now watch YouTube videos with standard American English in real time using Krisp’s new Chrome extension, Accent Conversion for YouTube . The plug-in builds on Krisp’s Accent Conversion technology, first launched in 2025 and expanded with a listener-aid feature in April 2026 . Krisp says the free extension has already reached 50,000 installs before the public launch. This launch moves Krisp’s AI accent technology beyond live meetings and into everyday streaming. Instead of only using it on business calls, people are now also covered in their free time for entertainment and a wide range of use cases including lectures, tutorials, podcasts, and webinars. Millions who struggled to understand accented audio can now hear the same audio without replaying or switching tabs. “The internet made knowledge global, but understanding never caught up,” Arto Minasyan, co-founder and president of Krisp, said in a statement. “There’s incredible content everywhere, but access to it still depends on how easy it is to follow.” Krisp’s technology gives listeners more balance and control over how they consume content while broadening access for a more inclusive range of use cases. The company first positioned the technology as a means to eliminate friction in communication within international teams, where back-and-forth clarification might hinder the engineers, sales personnel, and customer service professionals. With Accent Conversion for YouTube, that same concept is being applied outside the professional space, to the everyday experience of watching videos. The product expands to cater to a much broader consumer base, ranging from students who are learning through lecture-based tutorials in different languages and locales, to people for whom English is not their native language. Individuals with ADHD or those with auditory processing difficulties might also benefit from this tool. What sets Krisp apart is its subtlety and speed.
